Changes to SMS Sender IDs in Australia
From 1 July 2025, new rules introduced by the Australian Government (via the Australian Communications and Media Authority – ACMA) require all businesses using a Sender ID for SMS and MMS messages to register it.
What is a Sender ID?
A Sender ID is the name that appears at the top of a text message (instead of a mobile number). It helps you easily identify who the message is from.
For example, messages from InfinityPath will display as INFPATH, and messages from Gastropath will display as AGPATH.
Why the change?
The new rules aim to reduce scam and fraudulent messages by ensuring only registered Sender IDs are displayed. From 1 July, if a Sender ID is not registered, the message will appear as ‘Unverified’. This helps recipients identify potentially suspicious messages.
Our Commitment to You
At InfinityPath and Gastropath, we have fully registered our Sender IDs so our messages reach you clearly and securely:
- INFPATH – for messages from InfinityPath
- AGPATH – for messages from Gastropath
All SMS messages you receive from us (such as invoices for patients or urgent pathology results for referring doctors) will now display as INFPATH or AGPATH. You will not see ‘Unverified’ on our messages.
We recommend you save these Sender IDs in your contacts so you can easily recognise legitimate communications from us.
If you receive any suspicious messages claiming to be from us that show as ‘Unverified’ or use a different name, please do not click any links or provide personal information and contact us directly.
